Traces/Huellas: Experiences of Chilean Exile 50 years after the Coup

Speaker

Rodrigo Dorfman

September 11, 2023 marks the 50th Anniversary of the Chilean military coup, a moment that changed the course of history. We choose to gather the day after, to reflect on the traces, las huellas, etched in the lives of so many who were touched and transformed by this day and the days after. A night of community, empanadas, wine, poetry, multimedia, shared storytelling and the book launch of Rodrigo Dorfman's memoir "Generation Exile: The lives I Leave Behind." The event will feature an open-mike opportunity for anyone who feels so moved to share with others their own experiences and memories of the traces left by the Coup. The event will begin at 6:30pm with a reception with wine and empanadas. Attendees are welcome to bring your favorite bottle of Chilean wine to share with others in a potluck style. The book, Generation Exile will be available for purchase or you can pre-order from the Regulator at (919) 286-2700. Rodrigo Dorfman will be available to sign copies.
