Angola-Brazil Encounter: Music and Movement Connections: April 2-4, 2020

This 3-day participatory symposium will explore the deep cultural exchanges between Angola and Brazil. Bringing together scholars, performance artists and teachers from Angola, Brazil, Europe and the United States we will the explore the musical and movement practices that have traveled across the Atlantic between these two countries for the last several hundred years.  Events will include panel discussions, a documentary film screening, live performances, a Lusophone dance party with DJ Aporia Barrage, and music and movement workshops.  Special guests include capoeira mestre Cobra Mansa from Bahia, Brazil and performance artist, Cabuenha, from Luanda, Brazil.  All events will be free and open to the public.
